  Procedure
  Invisalign® invisible braces gently move your teeth over a period of a months depending on how much straightening is required. Most cases are completed in 12-18 months, but some express cases can be finished in less than 6 months! Dr. Levey will fit you for custom-made, clear aligners that are easily taken in and out (you wear them "22/7"). You remove your aligners before you eat,drink, and brush your teeth, so there are no food restrictions or problems with flossing or brushing.   Procedure
  As with all the procedure offered in his practice, Dr. Levey always takes your time and comfort into consideration and always tells you what he is planning to do every step of the way. During your first visit with a specialist (a Periodontist or Oral Surgeon of your choice) an anchor (implant) is placed into the jawbone and the site is allowed to heal for several months. This gives your tissue time to grow around the anchor to more firmly hold it in place. After healing, natural-looking teeth are fitted over the implanted anchor(s).

• CEREC
  
  CEREC simply means less drilling on your tooth, less time in the chair, and fewer appointments. Dr. Levey is one of less than 2% of US dentists who has been trained and using CEREC technology since 2001. CEREC is the world's only system for long lasting, all ceramic crowns, onlays and veneers created in ONE VISIT; which also means fewer injections, often less drilling (therefore saving more of your natural tooth) and less time out of your schedule than old-fashioned techniques.
  
  Used for front and back teeth, CEREC [CAD-CAM] Technology can be utilized to repair cracked, broken, or chipped teeth, and worn or unsightly teeth in just one office visit!

  Procedure
  Dr. Levey will examine your mouth and determine the appropriate treatment. It could be a simple filling, or a full crown, depending on how much healthy tooth structure is remaining and his clinical judgment. Next, he will administer an anesthetic and prepare your tooth for restoration, removing decayed and weakened tooth tissue, without disturbing the healthy tissue. This strategy is called minimally invasive dentistry.
  
  Next, the Dr. Levey takes an Optical Impression of the prepared tooth (just like taking a digital photo). No need for messy, gagging, gel impression trays in your mouth. The optical image takes just a few moments to capture.
  
  Dr. Levey then uses his expertise to design your restoration using the CEREC 3D computer program while you watch. About 10 - 15 minutes later your all-ceramic, tooth-colored restoration is finished and ready to bond in place. Dr. Levey tests the restoration in your mouth to ensure proper fit and bite. The porcelain is then polished and bonded to your tooth. Your tooth is restored with no "temporary" or return trip necessary. All of this is done in a single appointment!

  Note how we were able to restore our patients cracked single front tooth in just one visit! This means she did not need to wear a temporary crown for several weeks or have to return to the office for a second visit or get numb for a second time.

  In the end, dentistry is all about the patient and so for a new technology to gain rapid and widespread acceptance you, the patient, must benefit. Here’s how you will benefit from laser usage in dentistry:
  1) Fear of needles: The best performing dental lasers can be used to perform almost all common cavity preparation procedures without the need for patient anesthesia. Patients don’t like injections, even when they don’t hurt!
  
  2) Dislike of numbness: Patients prefer not to become numb or leave the dental practice after a procedure numb. And, many patients feel anxious from physiological reactions to commonly used anesthetics. A high performance dental laser eliminates this negative in many instances.
  
  3) Dislike of drill noise and vibration: Highspeed handpiece cavity preparation involves significant objectionable noise and vibration for the patient and they dislike it. The sound of a laser is not objectionable and no vibration is transmitted to the patient as the tip of the laser never even needs to contact the tooth!
  
  4) One stop shopping- We have found that ownership of a good quality laser with gum tissue capability allows us to perform many more soft tissue (ie. gum tissue) procedures more simply, with little or no bleeding post operative due to a laser’s ability to coagulate as it cuts. This means referring our patients less to specialists. Our patients prefer to have their dental procedures performed here whenever possible. We can now offer treatment for moderate gum disease right in our office! Add to this that many soft tissue laser procedures can be performed without anesthetic and dislike of needles and numbness comes into play again.
  
  5) Preservation of healthy tooth structure: In general cavity preparations performed with lasers preserve more healthy tooth structure while avoiding the micro-cracking of healthy enamel associated with dental handpiece use.
  
  6) Laser procedures often result in less post operative discomfort.
  
  7) Better Overall Care- Equiped with laser technology, we are armed with more and better treatment options than without a laser, resulting in delivery of the very best, state of the art care possible for our patient's.
  
  
• Broken Teeth Repaired
  
  Old metal and silver fillings rarely just fall out, but they do weaken your own teeth. Because these fillings (which were state of the art from the Civil War until the 1990's) expand and contract in a different way than your natural tooth material, they cause tiny cracks to form within the body of the tooth as you eat and drink hot and cold food and beverages over the years. Because of these tiny cracks, your tooth can become very brittle and at some point, often while eating something relatively soft, a wall or section of your tooth can break right off.
  
  At Dr. Bard Levey's Smile Design Studio, we use modern CAD-CAM technology called CEREC to restore these teeth to "like new" strength and appearance in just one visit. We use a material that is tooth-colored for looks and stronger than metal for longevity. Dr. Levey is one of fewer than 2% of U.S. dentists who has been trained and has been using CEREC technology since 2001.
  
  For smaller fillings, the newest dental technology is very exciting. We are now able to use a dental laser to perform cavity preparations; which means NO DRILL and NO NOVACAINE (more than half the time). Dr. Levey also uses a tooth colored material that not only looks great, but the combination of drill - less dentistry using the laser and the most advanced bonding techniques causes fewer cracks in your tooth than traditional drilling and metal fillings. Also, because Dr. Levey's practice is focused on fixing adult's teeth, he has the knowledge and experience to place the somewhat tricky fillings successfully.
