And as time passes there are newer and more efficient ways to get your teeth straight using braces. Gone are the days of wacky head gear, with new technology also comes new braces. Invisalign is a new type of orthodontic or oral appliance, that is used to straighten teeth like braces, only without the need for metal brackets and painful wires. Although in certain cases the metal brackets are unavoidable, depending on the type and severity of your situation, you might be a candidate for Invisalign. The benefit of Invisalign? Like the name suggests, it's somewhat invisible. People won't know you're wearing braces. They fit like retainers would, only they're clear and are molded to your teeth. In the case where you might need metal braces, tiny metal brackets are attached to your teeth and then a wire is run through to hold the brackets in place, "bracing" your teeth towards straightening. Although they can be uncomfortable, the metal braces have become a bit fashionable to some people rather than ugly and disdainful like they have in the past.
