DDS or DMD - Is There A Difference?

Searching for a qualified, experienced Cosmetic Dentist can be hard enough without the confusion of accreditation - who is accredited and who isn't? How can I tell?

The accreditation acronyms stand for:

• DDS - Doctor of Dental Surgery
• DMD - Doctor of Dental Medicine

This designates the degree awarded to the dentist, from the dental school, upon graduation. There is no difference between the two, as both the DMD and DDS have the exact same education. Both degrees use the same curriculum requirements set by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation.

Again, the only difference is the title given by each particular university, as the educational requirements are the exact same.
