Gum Disease and Cold Sores - Relief with New Laser Technology

New laser technology has been developed and approved by the FDA to treat periodontal or gum disease. The laser is a light source from the infrared end of the spectrum that uses low energy power to treat gums, often without anesthesia. That's right, oftentimes no injections are needed, even with deep pockets. The low power of the laser kills bacteria that causes gum disease for up to three months (according to the leading periodontal journal), seals the vessels and nerve endings, and produces little if any pain for the first three days after the procedure.
