Bonding… Dental Bonding

Dental problems not only cause physical pain, but often emotional pain as well. These days, luckily, most dental issues can be addressed quite easily. One of the ways dentists are remedying common dental issues is through dental bonding. Composite resin is used to improve the appearance of front or back teeth. It can restore and protect damaged teeth and even cover natural flaws in the teeth. These composites may be used to repair decaying teeth, to make cosmetic improvements like lightening stains or changing the overall color of your teeth or even to reshape the tooth or teeth. This thin coating of plastic material on the surface of your teeth hardens with a high-intensity light. A quick and painless procedure that lends dramatic results. Ready to find out if Dental Bonding may be right for you?

Dental Bonding Vs. Veneers or Crowns

First of all, what exactly is Dental Bonding? Dental Bonding is the term used to describe a procedure wherein the long-lasting, tooth-colored plastic material known as resin is applied to a tooth or teeth to correct a number of structural and cosmetic issues. Among these issues might be teeth that have decay, been chipped, cracked, or discolored, and to fill in gabs between teeth.

Why would someone choose Dental Bonding over, say, Veneers or Crowns? Dental Bonding is the quickest, easiest and most cost effective way to solve these issues. Usually only requiring once office visit and generally not requiring any kind of anesthesia, many patients opt for Dental Bonding to resolve their issues. That said, there are certainly pros and cons to each. For example, Dental Bonding is not as durable or long lasting a solution as Veneers or Crowns. Dental Bonding tends to last for 3 years, though it can last longer. There is also the risk of the Dental Bonding chipping or breaking off a part of the tooth and it can easily be stained.

It is up to the patient ultimately to decide which route of action they want to take. Though, it is highly recommended to listen to the advice of your chosen Dentist to ensure the best results.
