Braces, Helping You Achieve the Straightest Possible Teeth

June 25th, 2010

Walking down the street you will see many young people sporting the latest fashion, braces. Crooked teeth or large gaps in teeth can be corrected using orthodontics or braces. While more teens sport braces than adults, advancements in cosmetic dentistry have encouraged more adults to explore the benefits of orthodontics.

Having teeth moved with braces is very time consuming, requires multiple visits (at least twenty) and can be uncomfortable. It is most useful for children or young adults to straighten their teeth. The procedure can improve the appearance of the face and jaw during growth.

Adults who want the effects of braces but don’t necessarily want the metal look may opt for products such as Invisalign. Invisalign is a product that acts similarly to braces but doesn’t affect the patients appearance in the same way metal braces do. Invisalign can be taken out to eat and even when worn, the clear material makes the product hardly noticeable.

Invisalign is not for everyone. Many people who would like to straighten their teeth are better candidates for traditional braces. A consultation with a dental professional experienced with orthodontics is the best way to know which procedure is right for you. Need help finding a licensed cosmetic dentist in your area?
