Tooth-Colored Fillings

Dr. McConnell can use tooth-colored, metal-free and mercury-free materials to quickly and comfortably improve your appearance and to help protect your teeth from stress and fractures.

Tooth colored fillings can be used to:
  • Restore cracked or chipped teeth;
  • Mask stains, such as the deep, dark stains from taking antibiotics;
  • Close visible gaps in front teeth;
  • Restore decayed teeth;
Protect exposed tooth roots due to gum recession.

Tooth-Colored Restorations - A Better Way

Chances are, if you've had cavities and were born before 1985, you have mercury amalgam fillings. Today, most dentists use newer, more attractive and sustainable materials for filling the holes left by cavities, but even as late as 10 years ago mercury was the most popular filling used.

More and more people today are electing to have their old, grey mercury fillings replaced by new, white fillings. Not only do the new materials look better because they blend with the color of the existing tooth, they are safer.

Eugene M. Sibick, DDS has written an article entitled, Tooth-Colored Restorations - A Better Way, on why mercury fillings are no longer used and why elective replacement of those fillings is becoming more and more popular.
