3. Are you a good candidate for Cosmetic Dentistry?

Many sites will give you a list of questions to ask yourself, that can help you decide if you think you are a good candidate for Cosmetic Dentistry. Unfortunately, the only people that can make that decision is you, and your dentist. No one else, no other site nor magazine, nor TV program, can make you enhance your smile. Only you can do that.

One comment emailed to us frequently after reading this question, is, “the best way to know if you are a good candidate for this is to ask yourself, 1. Are you 100% happy with your smile?” It really is a good question though. If you are 100% happy, that is great. If you are not, then you can make a change. It is easier than ever to enhance your smile. You can contact a surgeon here.

4. I want to enhance my smile, but can not afford it. Do your cosmetic dentists offer any discounts or financing?

Actually, we do have some great discount plans that have been arranged with our dentists. Be sure to mention to your dentist you found them on MyDentistUSA.com to find out about them.

Also, yes, we do offer Cosmetic Dentistry financing. Within the past couple years, things have changed tremendously. MyDentistUSA.com offers cosmetic dentistry financing, even with some terms that are interest free for a full 12 months. Click here to learn more about that. By the way, applying for financing in no way commits you to a loan, all it does is gives you the option of enhancing your smile.

5. What about my dental insurance? Will it cover this?

From a ton of research, and constant surveying of dentists, most dental insurances have a maximum benefit of anywhere from $800 to $2,300 dollars. This can obviously, usually cover some of your expenses. However, most of the cosmetic dentistry is considered not mandatory, and therefore not covered by insurance. The basic fact is, the insurance companies, as we all know, want to take care of you at the lowest cost possible, not really the best service or option available for you.

You would be very surprised at how much your dentist can, and will work with you. All dentists found on MyDentistUSA.com share one common belief, that the patient comes first. We promise you, that we will do everything within reason, to make your dreams come true, and enhance your smile.

7. How natural will my cosmetic dentist make my teeth look? Will people notice I had this procedure done?

Every single case is 100% unique. Dramatic differences (you are missing a tooth, and a cosmetic dentist fixes that) are noticeable. However, our cosmetic dentists are trained specifically to keep this in mind, knowing that this is a huge decision on your part, and the more natural your teeth look, the better. Funny as it is, our recent poll of patients showed that the top 3 questions/statements after the procedure asked by friends and coworkers were:

a. Have you lost weight?
b. You seem to be full of energy all of a sudden, have you been working out?
c. Is that a new outfit?

It is not uncommon for some patients to be so overjoyed they cry, hug their nurse or dentist! Patients self confidence typically sky rocket, feeling more outgoing, more social, and also showing more and more of there new smile. Business professionals brag about quicker career growth, the list is endless. It really is incredible how much a new smile can change your life, both short term and long term.

8. I want to be sure to ask the right questions and know I will forget if I do not write them down. Do you have any?

a. One of the most important questions to ask your cosmetic dentist is in reference to there continuing education. Many people don’t realize how much cosmetic dentistry procedures have and are changing, and without constant education, you can not be sure that your dentist knows the latest techniques, methods and equipment.
b. Is the cosmetic dentist license currently in good standing?
c. How long has the cosmetic dentist been doing cosmetic dentistry?
d. Has the cosmetic dentist ever had his/her medical malpractice insurance denied or revoked?
e. How many cosmetic dentistry procedures has the dentist done in total? If you are interested in a specific procedure, we highly recommend asking about that procedure as well.
f. How long will the cosmetic dentistry procedure take?
g. What are the risks of having the procedure? Both short term and long term?
h. Is anesthesia needed?
i. Where will the procedure be performed?
j. Does the cosmetic dentist have any before and after photos to view?
k. How long will it take to recover fully?
l. What can I expect in the recovery process?
m. Is there anything I can do to make the recovery process quicker?
n. Are my goals realistic?
o. Am I a good candidate for this procedure?
p. Are there any questions most patients asked that I have not asked?
q. How soon can I have the surgery?

9. What is the difference between DDS and DMD, after the dentist’s name?
The acronyms stand for:
DDS - Doctor of Dental Surgery
DMD - Doctor of Dental Medicine

This designates the degree awarded to the dentist, from the dental school, upon graduation. There is no difference between the two, as both the DMD and DDS have the exact same education. Both degrees use the same curriculum requirements set by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation. To restate, to only difference is the title given by each particular university, as the educational requirements are the exact same.
