Patient 1 - Smile Makeover
Summary: Chrissy presented in my office with concerns about the appearance of her existing dental treatment.

Evaluation: It was determined that the patient had 2 unsightly porcelain bridges for her upper front teeth along with having a discolored baby tooth behind her upper right bridge.

What we did: The patient underwent a smile design process, which included doing a computer simulation, and a 3 dimensional wax model to determine the proposed look. A combination of customized temporary bridges replacing her existing bridges, along with veneers for the baby tooth and for the tooth behind the upper left bridge, was manufactured to the proportions previously designed and placed on her upper 8 teeth. Once it was confirmed that this was the look the patient envisioned for her smile, the temporaries were replaced with customized porcelain veneers and bridges matching the form of her temporaries along with having the color the patient desired.

Result: Chrissy now enjoys the beautiful and natural smile she had always dreamed of.

Patient 2 - Smile Makeover
Summary: Janet presented in my office with a typical dental cosmetic deficiency as a result of many years of wear and tear: that being yellow, worn, and short teeth. Her desire is to have a younger and more attractive smile.

Evaluation: Her teeth were disease free and needed to be restored in as a conservative manner as possible in order to reverse the ravages of time and to create a more youthful and natural smile.

What we did: Determining Janet’s desired looks through a thorough communication process and incorporating these expectations in a computer simulation made it possible to design her proposed smile. Using this model of her proposed smile, her natural teeth were bleached and were followed by placing temporary resin veneers on the patient’s upper 8 front teeth to determine if the design of her veneers met her expectations. Once it was determined that Janet was happy with her temporary look, her provisional veneers were removed and replaced with customized porcelain veneers. The permanent veneers duplicated the shape of her temporary veneers along with having a color that blended into her natural bleached teeth yet still having a bright youthful appearance.

Result: As a result, Janet can now enjoy a natural and more youthful smile for many years to come.

Patient 3 - Smile Makeover
Summary: Ann presented in our office upset about the appearance of her smile.Evaluation: Upon examination it was revealed that the patient had discolored, short, slightly spaced and misaligned upper front teeth. She felt that in order to be happy about showing her smile, her teeth needed to be brighter and more proportional.

What we did: In order to determine exactly what the patient desired a computer simulation was designed. Making a 3 dimensional wax up of her desired size and shape for her teeth followed this. Customized temporary veneers were fabricated to her desired specifications and placed on her upper front teeth to determine if they met her expectations. Once this was confirmed, her temporary restorations were removed and replaced with customized porcelain veneers at a later visit.

Result: Ann now has the dream smile she always envisioned!

Patient 4 - Smile Makeover
Summary: Vicki presented in our office complaining about how her teeth looked when she smiled.

Evaluation: Vicki’s cosmetic deficiency was a result of wearing and discoloration over time which is a very common problem men and women face as they grow older. In order to correct problems of this magnitude, a design of what can be achieved must be created in order to determine the extent of the necessary treatment. This is accomplished by developing a computer simulation and from this the patient can decide if they will engage in all or part of the proposed therapy.

What we did: She decided at this time that she only wanted to correct her upper 8 front teeth with restorations and to bleach her remaining teeth. Therefore, Vicki underwent bleaching and this was followed by the placement of temporary veneers and crowns for upper front 8 teeth, all manufactured to match her previous design. Once she was happy with this look, her temporaries would be removed and replaced with customized porcelain restorations matching the shape of her temporaries along with having the color she had desired.

Result: Vicki was aware that she would still be left with areas of cosmetic deficiencies that would need to be addressed later in order to correct her entire cosmetic disability. She was extremely pleased with her result, yet is entertaining the desire to proceed with further cosmetic treatment to complete her smile.

Patient 5 - Smile Makeover
Summary: Sharon presented with esthetic and functional deficiencies related to her upper front teeth which made her very uncomfortable chewing with her front teeth and felt embarrassed to smile.

Evaluation: Her front two teeth had previously sustained a traumatic injury along with her upper front natural teeth being too short, discolored and having noticeable spacing.

What we did: In order to correct Sharon disability, a design, based on what she desired was developed. This was achieved by creating a computer simulation along with a three dimensional wax model. The proposed design determined that the optimum treatment would be to bleach all of Sharon’s natural teeth followed by the placement of temporary veneers on the patient’s upper 8 teeth, which would be manufactured, based on the specifications obtained from the previous design. Once Sharon was pleased with her new look, her temporaries would be removed and replaced with customized porcelain veneers fabricated to match her provisional’s along with incorporating the color she requested.

Result: As a result, Sharon’’s smile has been transformed and she now smiles with confidence.
