Meet Dr. Arnold

Dr. Arnold grew up right here in Porter County, where he attended Valparaiso High School. After graduating near the top of his class with a 4.1 GPA, and All-State and All-American distinction in track and cross-country, Dr. Arnold went to Indiana University. He completed his bachelor of science in biology and obtained a minor in Spanish, while competing on Indiana’s track and cross-country teams.

Upon graduation, Dr. Arnold moved on to the Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis. He was elected class president four years in a row, and represented his school at several national meetings. In addition to achieving excellent grades, Dr. Arnold received the ASDA Award of Excellence and the IDA Award for Leadership.

In 1996, he returned to Chesterton to work with Dr. Norman R. Novak. After three years of working together, Dr. Arnold bought the dental practice in 1999, and Dr. Novak retired in 2000. Since buying the practice, Dr. Arnold and his outstanding team have worked hard to make Smiles By Arnold & Associates the best that it can be. This includes a tremendous amount of continuing educationat the some of the best post-graduate dental institutions in the world.

These include the Pacific Aesthetic Continuum in San Francisco, the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, the Esthetic Epitome in Charlotte, the Hornbrook Group in Los Angeles and Houston, the Kois Center in Seattle, the Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne and the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Study in St. Petersburg. Additionally, Dr. Arnold has received advanced training in laser dentistry at the World Clinical Laser Institute.

Dr. Arnold is an active member of numerous local, national and international dental groups. These include the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Crown Council, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Pierre Fauchard Academy (fellow) and the Academy of Comprehensive Esthetics.

The group has invitations to lecture and teach in several other countries, as well. In 2008, Dr. Arnold also helped start MAX - Mastering the Aesthetic Xtreme. MAX is committed to helping train dentists to perform aesthetic procedures at a much higher level and to attain greater happiness in dentistry. MAX puts on many seminars each year in pursuit of helping dentists to achieve excellence.

Locally, Dr. Arnold has served as an officer for the Porter County Dental Society and on the Northwest Indiana Dental Society Board of Directors since 1999. He served as the Chairman of Northwest Indiana’s Dental Peer Review Committee for three years, and he has served on the board of the Northwest Indiana Dental Foundation since 2005. Dr. Arnold has also participated on several committees for the Indiana Dental Association including the state’s Strategic Planning Committee and the Council on New Dentists. He has volunteered at Hilltop Neighborhood House, a free dental clinic for low-income families.

Dr. Arnold is also becoming very well known on the national dental scene. In 2003 he was honored to be named as a Fellow in the Academy of Comprehensive Esthetics (F.A.C.E.). He had to pass a rigorous written examination covering all areas related to comprehensive esthetic dentistry, submit several cases showing his skills in treatment planning, cosmetic dentistry, and full mouth rehabilitation, and successfully present a challenging case to the Board. In 2006, he was invited to serve on the Advisory Board for the Academy of Comprehensive Esthetics (ACE). Since then, he has also served as the Co-Chairman of the Fellowship Committee for ACE.

In 2004, Dr. Arnold was also selected as a medical expert in the field of cosmetic dentistry for the Medical News Now, Inc (MDTV). He was honored to be interviewed for a thirty minute television program on cosmetic dentistry produced early this year in New York City. That same year, Dr. Arnold began serving as a clinical mentor for the prestigious Hornbrook Group, which teaches dentists from around the world to do world-class cosmetic dentistry. This is honor bestowed upon a select few dentists possessing this expertise.
