Patient 1 - Smile Makeover
When KJ was a child she had a bicycle accident that knocked out her front tooth. Nothing was done as a final replacement of the tooth since she was young and had not completed the growth phase of her skeletal structures. For a long time KJ was just wearing a removable replacement tooth and slowly the space closed and there wasn't enough room for a correct size tooth. After a thorogh smile evaluation, we completed a diagnostic waxup of the teeth on the models to preview the final result. This also serves as the blueprint guide for the final aesthetic outcome. The treatment for KJ consisted of a combination of porcelain laminates and caps. Anytime the smile makeover consists of a combination of Caps/Laminates and also realignment of the smile to gain harmony and symmetry a high level of comlexity is introduced to the process. KJ's comment at the end was " Wow, I would have never believed it could look this good,I am really happy".

Patient 2 - Smile Makeover
Lisa had very specific concerns about her smile. What really bothered her were the bondings on her front teeth which had darkened through the years. We explained to Lisa that outside of the bondings there were other issues that needed to be corrected to gain a natural and symmetrical smile that would seamlessly blend with the rest of her smile. Lisa' gum line on her front 4 teeth were positioned too low in her smile and needed to be adjusted. Once the gum levels were correctly aligned with the laser we replaced her front teeth bonding with 4 porcelain veneers.

Patient 3 - Smile Makeover
Rachel had completely given up on her smile. Attempts were made to correct her smile but resulted in no improvement. She explained that her smile turned out worse than what it had started with. Rachel's sister has extremely beautiful teeth and she felt that she could never have as nice a smile. As an aspiring singer, Rachel felt it was important to have a pleasant smile that wouldn't hold her back. Rachel had had 4 caps placed on her front teeth that looked like "Chicklets" (very square in shape and quite opaque in color). The gum line on the caps had pulled away and revealed the darkened roots. This darkening of the roots was a result of previous root canals which incidentally, is quite difficult to correct cosmetically. The other problem with Rachel's smile was the excessive gummy display. Another problem that needed to be corrected for Rachel was that her back teeth did not fill in her smile; they leaned inwards creating a dark space when she smiled. Rachel's smile makeover was more complicated than most and required diligent and thoughtful planning. After the root canals were corrected by a specialist we repositioned her gum line to a more ideal position with laser recontouring. Then we prepared Rachel's teeth for replacement of the 4 front caps and addition of 6 laminates to fill in her smile with brighter shaded porcelain that complimented her skin tone.

Patient 4 - Smile Makeover
When Nick came to see us for a consult he mentioned how his smile really affected his confidence. Nick's teeth were very crowded and his left eye tooth was too far up and not in biting position. The eye teeth (canines) are pivotal and they need to be in the correct position. If they are not aligned properly a variety of problems can happen. In Nick's case, these included TMJ problems and overuse and wearing down of the front teeth. Nick's makeover was more involved and required 3 phases to complete. The 1st phase was to align his teeth in an ideal position with braces. The 2nd phase consisted of aligning the uneven gum levels with laser gum recontouring to create better symmetry. 3rd we placed 8 laminates to regain the proper tooth shape and color that was lost.

Patient 5 - Smile Makeover
Nick came to see us for a consult to see if we can improve his smile. Nick had laminates placed about 15 years back and now they have chipped. Laminate's that were placed back then were very opaque in color and for the time probably the best that was possible. Nick has multiple concerns that had to be addressed. 1st concern with Nick's smile was dark color of the natural teeth which occurred as a direct result of tetracycline staining. 2nd concern with Nick's smile was his congenitally missing lateral incisors which created large gaps between his teeth. The 3rd situation we encountered with Nick's smile was excessive and uneven gum levels. Based on our smile analysis and our 3 dimensional imaging of the anticipated final outcome a blueprint was created to accomplish the smile makeover. 1st we corrected Nick's gum levels in order to create ideal shaped teeth to match his facial features. 2nd, laminates were placed for 8 upper teeth. Since Nick had very dark colored teeth it's critically important to place the right type of porcelain. If incorrect porcelain is placed teeth may look lifeless and overly opaque. Nick is an avid opera singer and when his smile makeover was completed he mentioned, "Not only does my smile look fantastic, it has made an improvement in my singing".
