To become an Accredited Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, a Cosmetic Dentist must submit a series of 50 complex cosmetic cases involving dental implants, porcelain veneers and crowns, teeth contouring, gum contouring, inlays and onlays, composite veneers, bondings and more for peer review. It is a very rigorous process, hence there have only been 45 Accredited Fellows in the 25 year history of the Academy in the entire world!

Dr Rebecca Pitts, DMD, DDS, DSc of Orlando, Florida has achieved Accredited Fellow status in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) – joining only 45 other AACD Accredited Fellow dentists in the world who have earned this prestigious designation since the founding of the organization 25 years ago. Accredited Fellow status marks the highest level of clinical achievement in the AACD. The Accreditation is a credentialing program similar to the specialty board certifications in medicine. Accreditation candidates undergo a rigorous three-part process consisting of a written examination, submission of five clinical cases and an oral examination. Candidates who succeed become Accredited Members of the AACD. To date, there are approximately 275 Accredited Members.

The Fellowship is the highest level of credentialing. Fellowship candidates must be Accredited Members. Part of the requirement is the submission of fifty specific clinical cases, which will be judged with the most stringent guidelines. Candidates who succeed are awarded the most prestigious status of the Accredited Fellow. In the history of the organization, only 45 dentists worldwide have achieved this honor.

The AACD is the world’s largest non-profit membership organization and is made up of over 8,000 cosmetic dental professionals. It is dedicated to advancing excellence in comprehensive oral care that combines art and science to optimally improve dental health, aesthetics and function.

Advanced credentialing by the AACD is the most recognized credentialing worldwide in the field of cosmetic dentistry.
