Veneers and Bonding

da vinci Veneers

By masking stained, chipped, and misshapen teeth, da vinci veneers provide a beautiful and natural looking way to brighten and reshape your smile. Da vinci veneers are ultra-thin ceramic shells that are bonded to the front surfaces of your teeth, giving you a beautifully whitened smile. Depending on your particular case, da vinci veneers may also be able to correct for misalignments and gaps that might otherwise require the use of orthodontics.

Dr. Tobey has extensive experience in applying LUMINEERS™, allowing him to match the color, shape, and texture of surrounding teeth and give you the look you desire. By covering your teeth with LUMINEERS™, Dr. Tobey is able to give your smile a dazzling white appearance. And porcelain accurately replicates natural teeth by reflecting light in much the same way as real tooth enamel. Contact Dr. Tobey today if you have any questions about porcelain veneers or would like to schedule a consultation.

Implant Restorations

By providing patients with strong, stable replacement teeth, dental implants are a highly popular way to replace missing teeth. Dr. Tobey’s implant restorations help his patients regain the freedom to eat whatever they want and not have to worry about embarrassing denture slips. In the dental implant procedure, artificial tooth roots made of titanium are securely fitted in the jaw by an oral surgeon. After these titanium posts have fused with the jawbone, Dr. Tobey uses his skill as a cosmetic dentist to fit his patients with natural looking replacement teeth that give them a beautiful smile and a strong bite. Dr. Tobey and his staff will guide you through every step of your implant restoration process to ensure that you’re comfortable and well taken care of. If you are interested in learning more about dental implants, contact premier Philadelphia cosmetic dentist, Dr. Richard Tobey.

Cosmetic Recontouring of the Teeth and Gums

Both teeth and gum recontouring are used to bring all the elements of your smile into balance. Many patients want to have their teeth recontoured with Dr. Tobey in order to fix small chips, smooth out bulges or pits in tooth enamel, and adjust for slight irregularities or overly long canines (the pointed teeth on the side of your mouth). When your teeth are recontoured, small amounts of tooth enamel are removed. This changes the length, shape or surface of a tooth. Recontouring is quick and painless and helps give all the elements of your smile a harmonious look. Contact us today to discuss teeth recontouring.

Gum Recontouring

Many times, patients feel that their teeth appear too short or that too much of their gums show when they smile. These patients frequently opt to have their gums recontoured with Dr. Tobey. Through this safe and comfortable procedure, Dr. Tobey uses a laser to gently re-shape the gum line, removing uneven and excessive tissue to create a more balanced smile. The laser immediately seals the tissue, aiding a fast recovery. If you would like to speak with us about tooth or gum recountouring, contact our office today.

Bridges

By replacing one or more missing teeth with a dental bridge, Dr. Tobey is able to provide his patients with replacement teeth that look and feel natural. The replacement teeth in a dental bridge are placed between two porcelain crowns. These crowns are then attached to the natural teeth on either side of a gap. With his expertise as a cosmetic dentist, Dr. Tobey can precisely match the color of both the replacement teeth and the porcelain crowns to your surrounding teeth. By replacing missing teeth with dental bridges, you are able to prevent biting disorders and speech problems. Dental bridges cannot be removed by hand and can last as long as ten years. If you’re interested in dental bridges, Contact Dr. Tobey for a consultation.

Crowns

Dental crowns, also known as caps, completely cover a tooth that has become worn or decayed. By completely covering a tooth with a natural-looking all-ceramic crown, Dr. Tobey is able to protect a weak tooth from breaking or hold together a cracked tooth. Dental crowns also restore the shape of already broken teeth that have been worn down. If you think you might be interested in all-ceramic dental crowns, contact Dr. Tobey today.

Periodontal Care

Having completed three years of advanced post-doctorate training in periodontics and prosthodontics, Dr. Tobey is an expert in the treatment of gum disease. Gum disease is characterized by bleeding, swelling, redness, gum recession and other factors. If you believe you have gum disease or would simply like a checkup with a specialist, contact Dr. Tobey today to schedule a periodontal screening.

Scaling and Root Planing

This procedure attacks the plaque and tartar that cause gum disease and tooth loss. With proper care, scaling and root planing help give patients healthy teeth and gums for years to come. This non -surgical procedure involves the careful cleaning of the root surfaces to remove plaque and tartar from pockets created by gum disease. And by smoothing the tooth root, gums are able to reattach, lessening the likelihood of receding gums.

Periodontal Surgery

Pocket Reduction

Gum disease destroys tissue, resulting in pockets around the teeth. Over time, these pockets become deeper and become the home of more and more bacteria. If left untreated, the resulting bone and tissue loss may mean the tooth will need to be extracted. Dr. Tobey’s pocket reduction procedure gives patients a better chance of having healthy teeth for life.

Gum Recontouring

If your teeth appear too short and your smile too “gummy,” you may simply have too much of your gums covering your teeth. With gum recontouring, Dr. Toby is able to shape the gums so that they are in proportion with your teeth by using a laser that immediately seals the tissue. Gum recontouring is safe and comfortable with a fast recovery time.

Soft Tissue Grafts

Gum recession can expose tooth roots, making teeth appear too long and causing sensitivity to hot and cold. Soft tissue grafts cover the tooth root and prevent further recession and bone loss. Dr. Tobey can take gum tissue from your palate or from another donor and surgically cover the exposed root. Patients who undergo soft tissue grafts have both functional and cosmetic benefits.
