Porcelain Veneers

Often described as "instant orthodontics", porcelain veneers are life-like and beautiful. You can change the color, shape and size of your teeth by bonding thin layers of porcelain to them. This process can be likened to getting fake finger nails - - for your teeth. Porcelain veneers can help brighten front teeth and correct defects including:

* Spaces between the teeth
* Broken or chipped teeth
* Unsightly, stained or washed out fillings
* Permanently stained or discolored teeth
* Misshapen or crooked teeth
* Whiten dark yellow or stained teeth
* Cosmetic abnormalities (tooth shape, shade, lip and cheek support)
* Out of position teeth

Bonding

Tooth-Colored Biocompatible bonding and filling materials

Filling in the gaps between teeth, making crooked teeth appear straight or eliminating brown spots are a few uses of bonding. A tooth colored material is used to reshape your teeth in just one appointment.

Dr. Yampolsky considers amalgam fillings obsolete, especially when safe, effective, lasting and cosmetically beautiful alternatives exist, such as composite resin fillings, porcelain or composite inlays, and other hybrid restorations. These fillings look like natural teeth and blend seamlessly with your own teeth. The bonding technique used to place them even strengthens your teeth.

Crowns, Inlays, and Overlays

Crowns or "caps" are used when a tooth is structurally weak and needs the strength of a full coverage restoration. Crowns can be all metal, such as gold; porcelain; or a combination of porcelain fused-to-metal.

Inlays and Overlays are used as stronger alternatives to bonded fillings. Like crowns, they are made in a laboratory for a stronger, more durable filling, and are custom fitted to your teeth.

Replacing Missing Teeth

You can create a lasting beautiful smile by replacing one or more missing teeth with the latest reliable and aesthetic techniques. Once teeth are extracted, spaces between teeth allow the other teeth to shift, creating problems with the gums, bite and smile.

Replacing missing teeth is much less costly in the long term than correcting the problem once the teeth have shifted.

Dental Implants: for those who want to replace one or more missing teeth and are in good health, consider implants - a permanent dental replacement system. Implanted teeth are built on a "bionic" root made of titanium, which is placed into the jaw bone. This "root" acts as an anchor for one or more false teeth. The procedure is usually done under local anesthesia. Implants are a highly successful procedure and are becoming more widely available. The success of implants can be as high as 98 - 100%.

Bridges replace missing teeth by connecting teeth with crowns to "fake" teeth, replacing the missing ones.

Fixed bridges consist of a false tooth fused between two crowns and cemented to abutment teeth. They rest on the teeth adjacent to the space and require some drilling.

Removable bridges can be taken out of the mouth. They fasten to natural teeth with special clasps or attachments.

Zoom! Whitening

The Zoom! In-Office Whitening System is a revolutionary tooth whitening procedure. It's safe effective and very fast. In just over an hour, your teeth will be dramatically whiter. Zoom! Whitening is ideal for anyone looking for immediate results. The convenience of Zoom! in comparison to days of wearing trays and gradual whitening makes it the perfect choice for the busy individual.

The Zoom! Whitening procedure is simple and painless. It begins with a short preparation to isolate your lips and gums. We then apply the proprietary Zoom! Whitening Gel, which is activated by a specially designed light. Teeth typically become at least six to ten shades whiter, sometimes more. A five-minute fluoride treatment completes the procedure. You'll be amazed with the results. In most cases, teeth get even whiter the first few days after the procedure.

The Zoom! light activated gel was developed after years of research by Discus Dental, the leaders in professional take-home tooth whitening. The gel is a scientifically formulated, pH balanced Hydrogen Peroxide that, when activated by the Zoom! light, gently penetrates the teeth to remove deep stains and discoloration. With proper care and an occasional touch-up at home, your whiter smile will sparkle for years.

Reflexology and Foot Massage

"We can relax patients by refocusing their attention and energy away from the dental stressors," explains Dr. Yampolsky. By massaging specific areas of the feet, energy can be released to other areas of the body. This reduces tension in the shoulders, neck and face, and lowers breathing and heart rates. Reflexology also controls pain and improves the healing process after dental care.

Acupressure and Acupuncture

Acupressure is the ancient Chinese healing method of applying pressure to certain points on the body to relieve pain. Acupressure is often used during anesthesia injections to reduce anxiety and minimize pain.

Acupuncture uses very fine needles gently placed in specific points of the body to promote healing and relieve stress. Dr. Yampolsky has developed several protocols with our acupuncturist to treat anxiety, reduce pain, and promote healing.

Aromatherapy and Soothing Nitrous Oxide

The use of pleasing aromas to affect mood has become very popular. A study in 1995, published in the Journal of the American Dental Association, reported that 82% of dental patients exposed to floral scents experienced a sense of well-being and reduced levels of anxiety. Fragrances can have a subliminal effect on mood, so we eliminate medicinal odors with healing aromatherapy. As patients undergo dental work, they are also engaging in breathing exercises and watching meditation CD's and videos, which helps reduce anxiety and pain. Our entire office is suffused with a variety of therapeutic aromas to help you have a positive experience.

Biocompatible Non-Mercury Filling Materials

Holistic dentistry is in many ways more conservative than traditional dentistry. One area where this is evident is in the use of metallic dental fillings. Introduced in 1908, the mercury used in these fillings is a known toxin. While the evidence against amalgam fillings is inconclusive; safe, effective alternatives are now available. Dr. Yampolsky limits the amount of toxins patients are exposed to and helps enhance the immune system to fight disease.

That’s why for years, Dr. Yampolsky has offered new materials that are non-toxic, long-lasting and natural-looking, including composite resins, porcelain and gold fillings and even titanium implants. Dr. Yampolsky also uses holistic methods to protect you from exposure to toxins during the removal of old amalgam fillings.

All Natural, Non-Toxic Dental Hygiene Products and Tools

Dr. Yampolsky limits the amount of toxins patients are exposed to and helps enhance the immune system to fight disease.

* Before x-rays, Dr. Yampolsky gives patients antioxidant vitamins to help scavenge tissue-damaging free radicals, which form in response to radiation.
* She also uses white bonded resin fillings to eliminate the possibility of releasing toxic mercury caused by silver amalgam fillings.
* When removing old amalgams, Dr. Yampolsky isolates the area so you don't breathe mercury vapor in the process.
* Surgical patients are offered natural enzymatic medications to reduce swelling and inflammation.
* For periodontal therapy, lasers and non-toxic antibacterial agents containing zinc, chlorine dioxide and aloe are used wherever possible. Stronger agents such as antibiotics are used locally, avoiding the damaging effects to the immune system caused by systemic antibiotics.
